I went and saw Green Lantern tonight. It was inevitable, despite all the bad lip service it’s been getting, since GL is my #2 superhero, behind the Bat himself. Now, after seeing it, I’m left with a single question…

What the HELL were the people who’ve been disappointed with it expecting that it didn’t deliver on!?

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not perfect. Jordan is initially a very unsympathetic character, Blake Lively could have been a little more expressive as Carol Ferris, the changes to the production design felt mostly unneeded (although unobtrusive) and it was yet another origin story (something that will be less annoying when not watching it amid a plethora of new release origin stories), but it’s tone was spot on, the characterisations were impressive, Sinestro’s progression towards the next film was amazingly handled and the effects were some of the best I have ever seen, even in 3D!

WHAT COULD YOU HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN EXPECTING!?
